How it works
How to read an Instagram profile's health
Engagement: the engagement rate (likes + comments ÷ followers) only makes sense compared to profile size — 3% is excellent for a Macro and mediocre for a Nano. The tool classifies the profile by tier and compares it to the market benchmark for that size.
Authenticity: engagement far above or far below expectations, and odd ratios between likes and comments, are clues of fake followers or bought engagement. Cross-checking these signals keeps you from being fooled by a large follower count that doesn't convert.
Bio: the bio is the profile's first conversion. We check ideal length, presence of a call to action, link and structure. Add the three together (engagement + authenticity + bio) and you get an honest picture of the profile's health — yours or a competitor's.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- How does the tool analyze the profile?
- It combines three diagnostics into a single score from 0 to 100: engagement (your engagement rate compared to the benchmark for your profile size), authenticity (signals of fake followers/bought engagement, such as an engagement rate out of range and an unusual likes-to-comments ratio) and bio (text quality: length, CTA, link and structure). The result shows the overall score, the three sub-scores and the signals found.
- What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?
- It depends on profile size: Nano accounts (<5K) usually see 5-8%, Micro (5K-20K) 3.8-6%, Mid (20K-100K) 2.4-4.5%, Macro (100K-1M) 1.4-3% and Mega (1M+) 0.8-2%. The bigger the profile, the lower the average engagement. The tool uses these benchmarks to tell you whether yours is good, average or below.
- How do I know if a profile has fake followers?
- Classic signals: an engagement rate far below what's expected for the size (inactive/bought followers) or far too high (bought engagement), and a heavily skewed likes-to-comments ratio (hundreds of likes per comment suggests bots or pods). No single signal is proof, but several together raise a red flag — the tool lists each one.
- Do I need to connect my Instagram account?
- No. The tool is 100% manual and signup-free: you enter the profile's public numbers (followers, average likes and comments, bio) and the calculation runs in your browser. We don't ask for a login or access to your account.
- Can I analyze a competitor's profile?
- Yes — all the numbers used are public. Doing this by hand for every competitor, every week, is tedious. Batedor monitors your competitors' profiles continuously and alerts you when something changes (engagement, new posts, campaigns).
