How do these criteria work?

Engagement rate: (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100. The larger the profile, the LOWER the expected rate (law of diminishing returns). We compare your rate against the healthy band for your follower tier.

Likes/comments ratio: Real audiences typically have a ratio of 30:1 to 100:1. Like-bots inflate likes without commenting (ratio >150). Purchased comments are short and generic, inflating the comments side (ratio <10).

How the Instagram Bot Detector works

The tool combines four profile signals to estimate whether engagement is genuine or inflated by bots. First it calculates the real engagement rate: (likes + comments) divided by followers, times 100. Then it measures the likes-to-comments ratio, the number of comments per post, and compares everything against the healthy average for that profile's follower range.

Example: a profile with 50,000 followers averaging 1,500 likes and 12 comments per post has an engagement of (1500 + 12) / 50000 x 100 = 3.02%, within the healthy range, but a ratio of 125 likes per comment raises a yellow flag. The tool consolidates these signals into a 0 to 100 score and returns a diagnosis: healthy, caution or risk.
